We woke to sparkling sun, changed our plans again and headed for the water and a trip around Lake Atitlan. We used the 'public' lanchas (water taxis) and headed for San Marcos, the home of all things mystical and hippy! We could have spent quite a few days chilling there but after a wander around we caught another 'lancha' to San Pedro, home to a zillion Spanish teaching schools. After a climb to the top of the town, a visit to the church and a wander around the market, we made our way to the dock for the 'lanchas' to Santiago. 45minutes later we were in the city where we had lunch, visited another market and the church of St James the Apostle, built in 1547 by Franciscan monks. A very colourful day in the sunshine. And it was good to be back on the water.
