Lift Out September - December 2012

Not counting a quick lift out to make sure OR's anti-fouling is in good shape, this should be our last time on the hard before the great trip!

We have spent many hours  cutting back and polishing the boot top to bring back Ocean Rainbow's original vibrant navy.  We never thought it was possible but we were proved wrong!

Kevin Kingston designed and fitted the new gantry so that we can carry the solar panels up high and out of the way of the Hydrovane.  We have yet to put the whole mechanism to the test.    Kevin also designed and fitted the swim platform and used teak from the old pier at Weston Super Mare for the actual platform.   Both structures look as though they have been on Ocean Rainbow from the very beginning - we couldn't be more delighted.

We put on Jotan antifouling as the manufacturer's blurb says that it should last for two years!   We'll tell you in 2015 if this is the truth!

We've added two hanging rails in the bunk room to store our 'jackets' and 'smart' clothes.

We've fitted a Seagull IV water purifier.

We have also upgraded the radio to DSC iCom, added AIS and a Satphone.

Now all we have to do is gather the stores and spares ready for an Atlantic passage.
