Thanks to Martyn's swift response we now know we would have been flying the Alderney flag to cross the border from Spain to Portugal!   Claire bought the Portuguese flag but didn't open the packet until an hour before the border ....... minor panic set it, but all was resolved as Claire cobbled together a proximile from the Italian flag and the 'B' signalling flag.   An hour and a half later we hoist the replica ... yesterday we managed to purchase the proper flag and hoist that!!     Sorry John, you were a few hours too late with your reply!!
