Isla Linton, a private island, has now been abandoned and is home only to a family of monkeys who amazed us in their ability to walk upright, displaying so many human mannerisms. We visited the colourful and simple villages of Puerto Lindo and Garrote - our first stops on the mainland of Panama. We then took a dinghy ride up to Isla Grande (purportedly off where Sir Francis Drake was buried). We walked the length of the island to the lighthouse at the northern tip, then climbed the 117 steps to the windswept and rocking top for a magnificent view of Isla Tambor and the north Panama coast. We then headed back stopping for a picnic on Surf Spot beach and a beer at Pupi’s Rastafarian bar.
