If you are wondering about the photo – it’s the view you get of Bequia at the Jazz Festival after 2 rum punches. We love this island! We have met new folk, caught up with folk from previous anchorages and been made to feel totally welcome by the locals and by those fortunate enough to have a holiday home here. Everywhere we go we have been met with smiles and a real feeling that we are welcome and that folk want to share their good fortune with us. We have been offered tasters of fruit, had explanations about cooking methods for strange veg and given recipes. No one has pestered us, the ‘boat boys’ (and girls) wave and shout cheery greetings, we have travelled in a sweet smelling minibus (like a taxi collectif but with even more people squashed into the space … 18 to be precise!) to the Jazz Fest, we have been to the local church and enjoyed some singing from the heart, snorkelled on the reef …..and can completely understand why some people arrive in their boats and never leave! There are some more photos here.
