This is it, Jon has arrived on Hecla so we’re off tomorrow on the start of the third (and major) leg of our trip.  We have so far sailed a total of 3,646nm since leaving Portishead at the end of June.    1,003nm for the first leg (Portishead – Spain), 2,643nm for the second (Spain – Cape Verdes) and now we are about to set off for the longest passage so far.   The distance from Mindelo to Le Marin Marina in Martinique is 2,100nm.   We hope to make better time than on our 800 nm trip from the Canaries to the Cape Verdes, but we could well be at sea for a month though our working assumption is 3 weeks.    We're all set for Christmas and New Year at sea so all that remains is for us to wish you all a very happy and healthy Christmas and every best wish for 2014.
