On Saturday the 29th June Ocean Rainbow got all dressed up in her finest flags to begin her long awaited journey. Claire and James were in good spirits as they locked out to cheers from supporters. First stop Barry…..and then the world!
Huge thank you to Andy Bryant, who came this morning to give us and Ocean Rainbow a blessing for the trip.
Today we set off around the world! The globe may not be an exact replica of the world but it was the start of the countdown. It was presented to Claire (by Debbie Quinn, a former work colleague) to mark her retirement from paid work! The flowers are from Blyth and we hope that they […]
Last night we had a lovely evening at the Sailing Club with a chance to say farewell to folk. We were really surprised and touched to be given T shirts from the Club to take with us on our travels …. we’ll look forward to wearing them at the Club on our return ( not […]
Stowing the shopping on a boat is not something I wish to do on a regular basis! Well, not in this quantity at least. However, I was somewhat concerned about the disappearance of locker space with an ever increasing stock of engine spares, pumps, string, glue etc etc so I decided it was time […]

Minor panic set in when I thought the ‘fridge motor had packed up! I checked the fuse box but nothing was amiss and the isotherm control panel was lit up as normal so it didn’t occur to me that there was another place to look! Needless to say Ray came to my rescue (James […]
Coincidence is a funny thing – we received Swallow’s latest blog with pictures of ‘bloomers’ at the same time as Claire was proving the first two wholemeal loaves of her career! Here’s the result.
Vicky and Elliot left Portishead this morning in beautiful sunshine with all their flags flying. Quite a birthday to remember, Elliot! Not sure how we’re feeling though as we still have 3 weeks to wait until we too set off on our adventures. If there weren’t so many things still to do the temptation would […]
Lovely to have Mark and Sue Blackmore on board – James will miss his visits to the Savages during the ‘season’ but we do have a couple of Terry Culpin’s paintings to remind us of this unique club while we are away.
