48 Hour Pit Stop

By Claire on Thu 10 Dec

Curaco Lift Out 005Curaco Lift Out 025The last 48 hours have been a serious whirlwind.   We left Spanish Waters early doors on Monday, had a great sail 8nm down the west coast of Curacao and arrived at Willemstad by 0900hrs and were through the bridge by 0915hrs.   We felt rather ‘grown up’ having the bridge swung just for us!   Then it was up to the Marina where we were lifted at 1030hrs with amazing efficiency, chocked ashore and left to complete our chores!   Silent Wind dismantled and everything checked, then remounted with brand new blades (total success, all is silent again!).   All stopcocks serviced, propeller cleaned and the major task of the antifouling tackled – now all encounters with fishing nets and the rubbing effect of mooring buoys have been obliterated and we will be weed free for a while!   Everything was finished by Tuesday evening and so we were back in the water by 10am on Wednesday.   We’re very impressed with the service we received. After a speedy up-wind sail in winds gusting 32 knots we are back in Spanish Waters awaiting the arrival of Team ACE … very excited.
