Despite getting caught up in a student protest and taking ages to find somewhere to park we had a fabulous day in San Juan, the capital of Puerto Rico. The old town is just gorgeous with its blue cobblestones streets, colourful houses and its castles. We walked miles following the walls of the city, exploring the castles, admiring the architecture, sticking our heads into cathedrals and churches but still found time to sit in a park and enjoy an enormous and truly scrumptious pastry from Mallorca, the best panaderia in Puerto Rico according to our guide book. This city is lively, picturesque and definitely near the top of our 'favourite city' list.
