It’s confirmed, Yamahaha hates swimming, can’t swim and never wants to try it again! In the middle of the wildest night of bullet blasting wind anchored in Chatham Bay (Union Island), Puddle decides to see if Yamahaha can swim. Although tied securely onto the back of Ocean Rainbow the wind managed to get underneath Puddle and flipped both dinghy and engine upside down into the churning sea. Luckily we heard a thud (not the first that night!) so we rushed topsides to discover our beloved engine struggling to breathe! Once we had sorted everything out we went back to bed to wait for the morning when we could tackle the task of sorting out Yamahaha. By 5am James was reading the instruction manual and at 6am we started the task of stripping the engine. By 2pm (which included a change of anchorage) Yamahaha was fixed!! Yes, we do mean it! James has now officially qualified as a Yamahaha engineer …. Our faithful engine works again despite being turned upside down and submersed in salt water. How’s that for student progress? And, by the way, James’ leg is healing well.
