James and Claire Short, Adventures at Sea!

38 years on!

Sand dunes of Agadir 38 years later 38 years laterWell, we knew things would have changed in 38 years but we hadn’t anticipated all except two sand dunes being swept away by hotels, clubs and apartments.     We cycled simply miles to find a stretch of dunes but we were thwarted!  On the very outskirts of Agadir a military camp has been built and the dunes before the camp are guarded and no one is allowed to walk along the beach beyond their sentry box or in the sand dunes alongside.   The only inhabitants are a colony of seagulls.  We did manage a photo though …. Not sure the guards would have been too pleased had they known!   We then went back to another dune we had seen nearer town, went down a little track and climbed up to the top for the photo opportunity!   Our only comment would be, either we have grown or the sand dunes have shrunk.   We think we also found our hotel but it looks rather shabby so we haven’t got a photo!!     It’s been fun to come back but now we are now preparing to leave Agadir – curiosity has been satisfied.
